New Smyrna Chevrolet Helps South East Volusia Soccer Club Score Big

Posted by – September 12, 2011

New Smyrna Chevrolet teams up with South East Volusia Soccer Club to help raise thousands of dollars for youth soccer program.

New Smyrna Beach, Sep. 12, 2011 – In the spirit of teamwork taught by youth sports, New Smyrna Chevrolet is teaming up with South East Volusia Soccer Club to provide their players and coaches with soccer kits filled with equipment bags, soccer balls, sport cones, scrimmage vests and t-shirts, a sponsorship check and an opportunity to help them raise funds.

South East Volusia Soccer Club will have the opportunity to raise as much as $10,000 through a fundraising opportunity where one lucky recipient will win his or her choice of a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox or Cruze. Another lucky winner will receive a Home Entertainment Package.

New Smyrna Chevrolet and other Orlando-area Chevrolet dealerships are donating these prizes to participating leagues in the area. One-hundred percent of the proceeds collected from the fundraiser go directly to the leagues. The funds may be used in any way the league chooses.

A one-time sponsorship check will be presented by New Smyrna Chevrolet to South East Volusia Soccer Club. The league also will have an opportunity to raise additional funds for their use as part of a Chevy Youth Soccer Fundraiser.  Sponsored leagues across the country will each receive 2,000 fundraiser entry tickets to distribute for a suggested donation, and the league will keep 100% of the proceeds raised.  At the end of the fundraiser, there will be four winners of a Chevy Equinox or Chevy Cruze vehicle of choice (up to $24,995 in value), and in each participating market there will be a secondary prize of a home entertainment center valued at $1,000.

“We are proud to be able to help the kids in our community by donating equipment and giving them the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for their league. We are excited to be part of the effort this year, and anticipate a fun-filled season with South East Volusia Soccer Club” said Jack Holcomb, owner for New Smyrna Chevrolet.

Just out of Detroit:

“The Camaro Convertible will arrive in Chevrolet showrooms in February 2011. Starting price will be $30,000, including $850 destination.

“The Convertible will make the all-new Camaro, already a smash-hit, even more desirable to a greater range of drivers,” says Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing.

The Convertible model will be available in the same basic model offering as the Camaro Coupe. The standard model will have a 312-hp Direct Injection V6 engine featuring 29 miles per gallon on the highway. The SS model will feature the 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 426 hp. A six-speed manual transmission will be standard, with an optional six-speed automatic.

Camaro is America’s most popular sports car, seizing leadership in U.S. sales with the original coupe model that launched in spring of 2009 as a 2010 model. The right to purchase one of the first Convertibles was recently sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction for $205,000, with all proceeds donated to charity.”

2010 or 2011 Chevrolet?

Posted by – August 16, 2010

Well its that time of year. New models begin rolling into the dealer while we still have brand new current year models on the lot.

2010 Chevrolet Equinox

A question that always seems to come up, should I buy the new 2011 model or go for the savings on the 2010 model? Great question, so let me see if I can give a good answer.

New models generally get you the latest in all forms of safety, convenience features, updates to engines and the latest technology that usually improves fuel mileage and performance. However, with getting the most up to date vehicle they almost always cost more and discounts are less likely.

However, buying a current year vehicle will usually get you the most savings as incentives are in place to help get you the most for your money. Current year vehicles will depreciate quicker but unless you plan on trading it in within two years that doesn’t matter much. Current year vehicles usually are the most reliable as issues of any type have been ironed out.

So the answer is, IT DEPENDS. Yeah I know that was the easy way out. Basically you have to weigh the factors that are important to you when deciding to buy a new versus current year vehicle. I suggest two basic key factors, the latest and greatest versus saving you the most money up front.

One thing to remember, if you come to New Smyrna Chevrolet or New Smyrna Chrysler Jeep Dodge I’ll personally make sure you get the right vehicle and best possible price.

When do you know you need new Brakes

Posted by – November 26, 2009

Spending money on car repairs is the last thing any of us want to do, but it is a necessary evil. Generally, if you wait too long to get something fixed or replaced, it will end up costing you more than the original repair. Knowing when to change your brake pads is important; otherwise it can be very costly.

Step 1

If you bought your car new from a dealership, you can refer to your manual which should give you an idea of how many miles your brake pads should last you. Just keep that number in mind, and remember to consider getting new brake pads when you have reached that stated mileage. This does depend on your driving habits. Some people need new brake pads faster than others. I managed to make it 70,000 miles before I had to change mine.

Step 2

In either case, if you bought your car new or used, you can check the thickness of your brake pad yourself. Just take the tire off, and inspect the thickness of the brake pad. Most brake pad repairmen will tell you to replace your pads when they are 2 to 3mm thick. Keep in mind, new break pads are usually 10mm thick. Some people even say wait until the pads have the same thickness as a dime.

Step 3

The last way you can decide yourself, is to wait until you hear your brakes squealing. This a final warning telling you to get your brake pads changed as soon as possible. If you wait too long you might damage the rotors, which will double the price of your brake repair.

Step 4

If you’re undecided or don’t want to be bothered with checking it yourself, you can always take your vehicle to a dealer service department. They will be able to take a look at it and decide rather quickly if your brakes need changed. If you’re already hearing the squealing noise, they will probably take it for a quick test drive and let you know. Worst case, if they don’t need changed, they can give you a good estimate of how many more miles you can drive before your brake pads will need changed.
